Ratan K. Singh
Ratan K. Singh is a Senior Advocate based in New Delhi and is first ever International Member of Keating Chambers, London from India.
He is the Honorary Professor of Construction Law and Construction Arbitration at Manipal Law School as well as Dhirubhai Ambani University. He is also Visiting Faculty at O.P. Jindal University, Sonipat. Mr. Singh is also the Chairman of Advisory Board for LL.M. course on Construction Law conducted by Manipal Law College, Manipal University, and Chairman of Advisory Board for Ph.D., LL.M. and other courses at Dhirubhai Ambani University.
Mr. Singh is the Founder of India branch of Society of Construction Law-UK and has remained its Chairman since its inception in 2016.
He is also the Director of India branch of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators-UK for last 14 years.
Mr. Singh is empanelled as an Arbitrator on the panel of Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), Asian Institute of Alternate Dispute Resolution, Kuala Lumpur, Delhi International Arbitration Center (DIAC) as well as Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA), etc.
Mr. Singh did M.Sc. in Geology and thereafter did LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University and joined the Indian Bar in 1996.
He is a leading counsel and arbitrator, appointed and engaged in complex high-value construction, engineering and commercial litigation and arbitration. With about three decades of experience, he has a heavyweight practice in India, as well as internationally, with specialisation in construction, engineering, infrastructure, mining, joint venture, franchisee, sale of goods and general commercial and civil disputes.
Mr. Singh's professional experience encompasses advising and representing clients including employers, contractors and sub-contractors, in matters pertaining to powerplants (thermal, hydro and solar), petro-chemical plants, steel-plants, railways, express-ways, highways, airport, gas-pipeline, telecom, rural electrification, coal-gasification & ammonia-urea fertilizer plant, large-scale residential and commercial development projects including high-rises, hospitals, mining, stadium, automobiles, etc. He also advises Delay and Quantum Experts on expert evidence preparation from time to time, and is frequently engaged for vetting expert reports.
Mr. Singh has also received hundreds of arbitral appointments as presiding arbitrator, co-arbitrator, emergency arbitrator and sole arbitrator, and has represented parties in complex, high-value domestic and international arbitrations under the rules of International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) Paris, UNCITRAL, Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), Delhi International Arbitration Center (DIAC), Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA), Indian Council of Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (ICADR), and others.
Mr. Singh has five international fellowships to his credit from international arbitration institutions, namely, Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK (FCIArb.), Fellow of Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (FMIArb.), Fellow of Asian Institute of Alternate Dispute Resolution, Malaysia (FAIADR), Fellow of Prime Disputes, UK (FPD), Senior Fellow of Bali International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (SFBiam), Fellow of International Academy of Construction Lawyers (FIACL). Mr. Singh is the only fellow from India out of total of 54 fellows from all across the globe of the world's most reputed, invitation only, construction lawyers academy, headquartered in USA, namely, International Academy of Construction Lawyers.

Mr. Singh has remained involved with frequent speaking engagements in conferences and seminars in India and abroad, and he regularly delivers distinguished lectures to a variety of audiences ranging from students to experienced practitioners, engineers (Contract Managers, PMCs) and senior executive members of corporate giants and public-sector entities. Internationally, he has delivered speeches in USA, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Nepal, New Zealand, etc.
Mr. Singh also has several publications to his name, including a chapter on "Construction Arbitration: Peculiarities in Principle and Practice" in Emerging Trends in International Arbitration (Sweet & Maxwell) and a Handbook on Arbitration Practice and Procedure (forthcoming).
